Bridging higher education and industry to meet the skills needs of tomorrow




 

Collaboration between universities and businesses is essential for developing the future skills needed to drive UK economic growth, unlock opportunities for individuals and address global challenges.


It will ensure higher education provision – delivered to almost 3 million students annually – responds to the evolving needs of employers across the labour market. University-business collaboration already plays a vital role in future skills development. Partnerships cover a range of initiatives, including apprenticeships, student placements, collaborative curriculum design, staff mobility, and contributions to strategic skills planning.


Despite this picture, in this report NCUB research identifies three major barriers limiting the impact of collaboration on future skills.
